SAM Becomes An Enviromental Hero

SAM have been presented with their Green Heroes 2008 Wall Shield in recognition of their environmentally based CHP plant.
The trophy was presented by top botanist and TV personality Professor David Bellamy OBE, at the Tower of London on Monday 2nd June 2008.
The Shields are awarded annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance the environment, and that wish to share their experience and knowledge with the world.
The judges commented
“For several years now SAM have been using some of their waste to provide heat and power, but after recent hikes in landfill charges and energy prices it was decided to invest and maximize this resource. The addition of a suitable CHP plant has given them the ability to provide all their heat and power requirements and dispose of all their waste dust and offcuts. The savings to the environment are equally impressive.”
National Organiser Roger Wolens added
“Organisations that go the extra mile and become Green Heroes are demonstrating a serious commitment to the world around them. They invest in a better future for us all and deserve to be recognized for their efforts.”
