Senior Team buy in at SAM Mouldings

SAM Mouldings

Leading MDF moulding manufacturer SAM Mouldings has seen the successful conclusion of a management buy-in. The five senior managers have acquired a shareholding alongside existing shareholders Sam and Julienne McCrea.

Sam McCrea, who becomes CEO, said: “For our customers and suppliers it really is business as usual. The members of the senior team have been together since 2001 with most of them having been here over thirteen years. So it is a good move for the company and helps commit the senior team to continue working together for the longer term. They have put in place the quality and service levels which have established SAM Mouldings as the market leader. I’m confident that their business and market knowledge will help lead to further profitable growth in the years ahead”.

Richard Holmes, who becomes Managing Director, said: “This is an exciting time at SAM Mouldings with some promising partnerships already confirmed for 2010. The challenges ahead are clear for all to see and we as a team are determined to succeed.”

Hugh Laverty, who led the process and becomes Finance Director, said: “The process went smoothly from the start and all involved are very pleased with the outcome. Buying into the company at this time was an opportunity that we all welcomed.”

Gerard Wilson, now Sales Director, said: “In the last year we have seen the successful launch of our primed dual profile mouldings and are continuing to develop further products to meet changing market needs. We have an excellent customer base supplying the market’s leading merchants and with the positive reaction to our recent supply partnership with SCA Timber Supply this bodes well for the trading year ahead. We have always been a company which is focused on meeting customer needs and in this recession our ability to react to changing demands has only helped to cement long term relationships with our customers.”

The other members of the senior team are Mark Kirkpatrick who is now Operations Director and Tim Patton who becomes ICT Director.

SAM Mouldings was established in 1990 and manufactures a range of pre-primed and wrapped MDF architectural mouldings from its purpose built manufacturing facility in Antrim.
